Elena Kozievskaya, Director for Development of the Eurasia Heritage Foundation, took part in discussion of the report by Vladimir Malakhov, Doctor in political science, Dean of the Political Science Faculty of the Moscow High School of Social and Economic Sciences, «Citizenship as a concept and an institution: what, how and why for should we study that?».
The report was discussed at the workshop of the Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences.
The citizenship issue is not only the problem of rights (i.e. access to the collective goods), but also the «identity» (i.e. an individual's sense of belonging to a group and his actions in accordance with this sense). Those problems can be solved through the studies of the national historical and political and intellectual traditions as well as of the national «political cultures» and their influence upon formation of one or another citizenship model.
