On April 7-8, 2005 the First Integration Forum “The Single Economic Space of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine: viability, implications and prospects” was held in the President-Hotel, Moscow.

On April 7-8, 2005 the First Integration Forum “The Single Economic Space of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine: viability, implications and prospects” was held in the President-Hotel, Moscow. This Forum was initiated by the Eurasia Heritage Foundation, the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Russian Federation and the Academy of National Economy under Government of the Russian Federation.In the discussion took part Members of the High Level Group: Viktor Khristenko (Russia), Andrej Kabiakou (Belarus), Sauat Mynbayev (Kazakhstan) and Serhij Terjokhin (Ukraine). The Ukrainian Minister of Economy Serhij Terjokhin stated a new position of the Ukrainian Government on the integration policy of Ukraine.
Presentation of the report “The Single Economic Space: viability, implications and prospects” made by the London School of Economics in cooperation with the Eurasia Heritage Foundation was the midpoint of the Forum.Many participants noted that the Forum had become the first step towards making the integration process within the SES project efficient and vital. Another achievement was involvement in the discussion of business and expert communities from the member states.
“We should express our thanks to the Eurasia Heritage Foundation which initiated debate we had to start with at the beginning”, - commented upon the results of the First Forum the Head of the European Institute for Integration and Development and Adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Vydrin when spoke about the future of the SES project. He highlighted that its success would depend on participation in the discussion of all interested parties: the governments, business and NGOs from the member states.
